ST. CLOUD, Minn. (12/12/09)--No.6-ranked Concordia took only 13 wrestlers to the St. Cloud State Husky Open on Saturday and came away with three top 5 finishers and 17 total victories.

The Cobbers, who were resting several of their top athletes for the upcoming Vegas Duals, were led by the trio of wrestlers in the 133-lb weight class. Mike Holman went 3-1 on the day and finished in third place in the weight class while Hieu Pham recorded a team-high four wins and finished in fifth place.

Holman started the day by scoring an 8-1 decision over Boyd Suparat of No.2-ranked Augsburg. He posted a pin fall at only :31 seconds over Austen Cole of Southwest Minnesota State and then put up a tight 4-3 decision over Matt Nyvold in the third-place match.

Pham pinned Cole in his opening match before losing in the quarterfinals. He then opened the wrestlebacks by pinning Carlos Martinez of Buena Vista. Pham then scored a 14-7 decision over Suparat before losing to Nyvold. He finished off his day by winning the fifth-place match on a forfeit.

The other Cobber top 5 finisher was Justin Berns who won his first two matches but then wound up defaulting in his semifinal match and could not continue.
