MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/27/08)-- A pair of Concordia men's hockey players earned MIAC postseason awards it was announced on Wednesday. Cory Johnson (Jr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Casey Olson (So., Rock Springs, Wyo.) were both placed on the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Johnson was also the team's honoree on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team. It is the first postseason awards for both players.

Johnson led the team in goals scored in conference games this season. He finished the year with seven goals in league play. He also had three assists for a total of 10 points in MIAC games. Johnson had four goals in the team's last six conference games. He had a season-high two goals against Augsburg on Feb. 8. Johnson was tied for 16th in the MIAC in goals scored in league games. He also scored four power play goals in the conference and was tied for fifth in the league in power play tallies.

For Johnson it is his second time this athletic season he has earned MIAC postseason honors. In the fall he was named to the MIAC football All-Conference Team.

Olson was one of the top defenders on the team this year. He played in all 16 conference games this season. He finished the year with two goals in league play. He scored both of his goals in the team's only tie in MIAC play. He had the second goal and the eventual game-tieing goal against St. Olaf on Jan. 18. Olson was also fifth on the team in shots in conference games. He had 33 shots in the 16 MIAC games.
