Game Recap: (recap courtesy of Augsburg SID)

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (02/17/07)-- Greg May (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) scored two goals, while Aaron Johnson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) had a goal and an assist, as Augsburg College scored a 4-2 win over Concordia College-Moorhead in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey game Saturday afternoon at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Brett Way (So., Grand Ledge, Mich.) had a goal, and Critter Nagurski (Sr., International Falls, Minn.) contributed three assists for the Auggies, now 10-9-4 overall, 7-3-4 in MIAC play. Augsburg has won five of its last six games and completed a series sweep of the Cobbers.

Ryan Cluckey (So., Moorhead, Minn.) and Alec Holen (So., Thief River Falls, Minn.) scored goals for Concordia, now 6-17-0 overall, 2-12-0 in MIAC play.

As was the case in Friday's 6-2 Auggie victory, the game was tied at 2-2 after two periods of play, and Augsburg pulled away in the third period to score the win. Special teams also played a major role in the game, as five of the six goals were scored during power-play situations -- four power-play goals and one shorthanded tally.

May put the Auggies ahead with his second goal of the game at the 4:30 mark of the third period, a power-play tally from Tom Doyle (Sr., St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS) and Way. Way then added an insurance goal at the 7:36 mark, assisted by Chris Johnson (Fr., Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS) and Nagurski.

Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 35-21 margin. In the weekend series, Augsburg outshot Concordia by a 77-41 margin. Andy Kent (So., Lakeville, Minn.) collected 19 saves in goal to score the win for the Auggies, while Jeremy Boniface (So., Goderich, Ontario) had 31 saves for Concordia.

The Cobbers opened the scoring at the 11:20 mark of the first period, as Cluckey scored a power-play goal from Mark Buchholz (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Holen. But Augsburg tied the game at the 17:43 mark, as May scored from Naguski and Aaron Johnson on the power play.

In the second period, Holen gave the Cobbers the lead with a shorthanded goal from Cory Johnson (So., Moorhead, Minn.) at the 4:54 mark, but Augsburg tied the game with another power-play goal, as Aaron Johnson scored from Nagurski at the 8:17 mark, setting the stage for the third period Auggie rally.

Augsburg, which has clinched a berth in the five-team MIAC postseason playoffs, closes its regular season with a series against Hamline next weekend. Next Friday's (2/23) game is at 7:15 p.m. at the Drake Ice Arena in St. Paul, while next Saturday's (2/24) game is at 7:05 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Concordia closes its season hosting St. John's in a two-game series in Moorhead, Minn., with Friday's game at 7 p.m. and Saturday's game at 2 p.m.
