Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/25/06)-- Concordia was once again done in by a St. Scholastica uprising in the second period and fell 5-3 on Saturday. The Cobbers allowed four goals to the Saints in the second period on Friday and then three more in the middle frame on Saturday to lose both games to their NCHA foe.

The loss is the Cobbers' fourth straight and drops their overall record to 3-4. Concordia started the season 3-0 but then lost two games each to Gustavus and St. Scholastica.

Besides the second period slip-up, the Cobbers allowed the Saints to score all five of their goals on the power play. In the end, St. Scholastica went 5-for-8 on the power play and posted 14 of their 40 shots on man-advantage situations.

Concordia also had success on the power play but not as much as the Saints. CC was a respected 2-for-8 on the power play on Saturday.

For the second straight night, Concordia gave up the first four goals of the game before finding an answer to the Saints. Trailing 4-0 towards the end of the second period, Kevin Kratz scored the opening goal for the Cobbers on the power play. For Kratz it was his second goal in as many games.

The Cobbers then trimmed the margin all the way down to one midway through the final period on a power play goal by Cory Johnson, his first of the year, and then an even-strength tally from Joachim Flaten.

That would be as close as the Cobbers would get as the Saints scored the all-important next goal at 16:45 to put the game back to a two-goal margin at 5-3.

St. Scholastica ended up outshooting Concordia 40-31 for the game. Each team gave up eight power play chances with each team getting 14 shots during those opportunities.

Jeremy Boniface played in his first back-to-back games of the season and made 35 saves in the loss. St. Scholastica goalie Tyler Johnson turned aside 28 shots to pick up his fourth win of the year.

Concordia will have a two-week break before returning to action on Dec. 8-9 when they host Hamline for a two-game series at the Moorhead Sports Center.
