Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/24/06)-- Concordia gave up four goals in the second period after a scoreless first frame and lost 5-2 to St. Scholastica in a non-conference game on Friday in Moorhead.

The Saints netted five consectuive goals in the second and third periods to seize control of a game that was even through the first 27 minutes of play. St. Scholastica then opened the scoring on a short-handed goal at 2:17 and then added a second score less than a minute later.

Concordia then allowed a pair of power play goals less than two minutes apart midway through the second stanza. For the period, St. Scholastica scored four goals on 11 shots.

The Saints added a fifth goal just 2:06 into the third period to put the game out of reach.

The Cobbers were able to pull back two goals in the final 12 minutes of the game. Both came on the power play. Sophomore Kevin Kratz scored his first goal of the season at 8:40 and then senior captain Mark Buchholz added his second goal of the year at 14:55.

For the Saints, Kelly Reynolds had two goals, while Joey Martini added a goal and an assist and A.J. Tucker had two assists.

St. Scholastica ended up outshooting Concordia 28-19 for the game. Both teams committed seven penalties and the Cobbers went 2-for-6 on the power play while the Saints also scored two power play goals on five attempts.

Jeremy Boniface made 23 saves in goal for Concordia. St. Scholastica goalie Steve Bounds turned aside 17 shots to pick up his second win of the season.

The two teams will finish the two-game series on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Moorhead Sports Center.
