Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/07/06)-- Concordia scored the first seven goals of the game against UM-Crookston and cruised to an 8-3 win on Tuesday in Moorhead.

Alec Holen continued his hot hand for the Cobbers as he scored two goals and tallied three assists in leading CC to a 3-0 record to start the season.

Four different Concordia players had scored in the first period and half of the second before Holen scored back-to-back goals to put the game out of reach at 6-0. Holen had also assisted on the second and third goals as the Cobbers peppered the Golden Eagle goal repeatedly throughout the first two periods.

The five-point game is a career-high for Holen and betters his three-point total in Saturday's 3-2 win over Northland. Concordia has now scored 12 goals on the season and Holen has been a part of nine of those 12. His nine points leads the team and is three more than he had in all of last year.

Holen's linemate, Ryan Clukey, also had a big game for Concordia. He scored one goal and had two assists. Clukey was joined by Dan Perry and Carl and Chris Babich as the five players to record multiple-point games for the Cobbers. Perry had a goal and an assists while the Babich twins each collected a pair of assists.

The other scoring highlight for Concordia was the first collegiate goal from Joachim Flaten. Flaten scored the seventh goal for the Cobbers on an assist from Knut Bitustoeyl. Both players are freshmen and from Norway.

The Golden Eagles did all their scoring in the final 22:19 of the game. Fred Kooser broke the shutout and then Brian Fergusson added a pair of goals in the third period.

Concordia split the goaltending duties almost right down the middle. Sophomore starter Jeremy Boniface made nine saves and did not allow a goal in the first 30:21 of the game and then Mike Persson finished the final 29:39 and made 15 saves and allowed all three goals. Boniface has not allowed a goal in his first two games of the year and earned the win to go to 2-0.

The Cobbers held the better of the play in the first two periods and had a 30-13 advantage in shots in the first 40 minutes. Crookston evened things out in the final period as they equaled the Cobbers 14 shot output in the final 20 minutes. For the game, CC outshot the Golden Eagles 44-27.

Crookston also split the goalie job. Brett Shelanski allowed six goals and made 18 saves in the first 30:21 and then Kyle Knudsen stopped 18 shots in the final 29:39 and allowed two goals.

The Cobbers will have a 10-day rest before returning to action on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at home against Gustavus.
