MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/11/09)-- Concordia led wire-to-wire and cruised past Macalester 78-60 in Moorhead on Wednesday. The Cobbers had five players score in double figures and shot a season-best 52.6% (10-for-19) from 3-point range as they gave head coach Rich Glas his 499th career win. Glas will have a chance to reach the 500-career win mark when CC hosts St. Mary's on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The win was the second consecutive home win for the Cobbers who improved to 9-14 overall and 6-12 in the MIAC. Macalester remains winless on the season and has now lost 31 straight games. The Scots are 0-23 in all games and 0-18 in league play.

John Fraase had a team-high 16 points for Concordia. He finished the game with 16 points and 12 rebounds to record his 13th double-double of the season and 11th in the team's 18 league games. Fraase also continued his pace to likely become the first Cobber men's basketball player to average double digits in scoring and rebounding for a season. Fraase is now averaging 14.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game this year.

Freshman guard Johnathon Molina, who was getting only his fourth start of the year, scored a career-high 11 points to go along with a career-high six assists, a career-high six rebounds and two assists. Darrin Olmscheid also had a double-double for CC as he went for 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. It marks the second double-double of his career. Ryan Steckler rounded out the Concordia double-digit performers. Steckler also posted career-high numbers in points. He was 2-for-3 from behind the arc and finished with 10 points.

Macalester was led by Paul Richie who was 8-for-19 from the floor and finished with a career-high 20 points.  Jerry Kraus had 10 points and James Murrey added nine in the losing effort.

The biggest statistical advantage came in shooting percentage. To go along with their 52.6% from behind the arc, Concordia shot 49.2% (30-for-61) from the floor and 80.0% (8-for-10) from the free throw line. The Scots shot a paltry 34.8% (23-for-66) from the field and an even icier 21.4% (3-for-14) from 3-point range. Macalester hit on 64.7% (11-for-17) of their free throw attempts.

The Cobbers outrebounded Macalester 43-31 for the game. The 43 rebounds ties for the second most this season. The +12 turnover margin for the game also ties a season best for Concordia.

Concordia will have week off before hosting their final two games of the 2008-09 season. The Cobbers will hope to give Glas his 500th win on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and will then finish off the seaosn on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. against St. Olaf.
