Concordia dropped their first match of the season, losing 7-2 to perennial MIAC champion Gustavus.

The highlight of the match for the Cobbers was Erica Tollefson's (So., Madison, Minn.) huge come-from-behind victory over the Gusties Ellen Anderson  4-6, 6-4, 10-8. Anderson, the defending MIAC #1 singles champ and ranked 13th in the nation in the preseason poll - had a perfect 26-0 record in MIAC matches coming into the day.
