Reiff and Nicholas Advance to NCAA Meet

The Cobber wrestling team finished 5th in the MIAC Championship Meet and advanced two Shawn Nicholaswrestlers to the NCAA National Tournament

Junior Nathan Reiff ('99, Whitehall, MT), the 1997 MIAC champion at 177 lbs., finished 3rd in the MIAC this year at 167 lbs. He qualified for the National Meet for a third consecutive year. 

Nathan ReiffSenior Shawn Nicholas ('98, Shepherd, MT) finished second at the MIAC Championship Meet at 134 lbs, losing a tough title match 1-0, and also advanced to the National Meet

3/13 Concordian Story

March 6-7 NCAA Meet schedule and complete results

Nathan Reiff  (167) and Shawn Nicholas  (134) both lost their second  round matches March 6 in Waterloo after getting byes in the first round. 

Reiff  lost 2-0 to Jason Dell (Gettysburg) and then lost 3-1 in overtime to Joel Andrew (Wisconsin Steven's Point) in the consolation bracket. Reiff ended the year with a 16-8 record against wrestlers from 4-year schools. 

Nicholas lost his first match 15-4 to John Hatfield  (Simpson) and did not take part in the consolation round. He ended his senior season with a 19-14 record.

 Feb. 28  MIAC Championship at St. Thomas - Results

Cobbers finish 5th at MIAC as Augsburg claims Title
 Cobber senior 134 pounder Shawn Nicholas (Shepherd, MT) finished second at 134, losing 1-0 in the championship match. Nathan Reiff (Whitehall, MT), a 167 pounder, took third after he lost in the semi-finals to eventual champion, and the meet's Outstanding Wrestler, John Newman of St. John's. 

Both Nicholas and Reiff earned wild card invitations from the league coaches to the Division III National championship meet at Upper Iowa March 6-7

Feb. 22 Meet Preview: 
Concordia is led by 2-time NCAA tournament participant Nathan Reiff (Whitehall, MT), a 167 pounder, and senior 134 pounder Shawn Nicholas (Shepherd, MT). Reiff finished second at 177 in 1996 and won the MIAC championship at 177 last year. 

The Cobbers finished 4th in last year's MIAC championship.
