2003 News and Meet Details:

10/4 Cobbers Climb One Spot and Finish 4th at MIAC Championships.

Concordia overcame an opening round of 323 to finish with a 317 and claim fourth place at the MIAC Championship Meet.

(Coon Rapids, Minn.)-- Concordia climbed one spot in the team competition on the final day of competition and finished in fourth place at the 2003 MIAC Championship Meet. The Cobbers finished with a team score of 640 (323-317) which was 32 strokes behind third place St. Thomas. Gustavus won the championship with a team score of 587 (298-289).

The Cobbers were led by Carl Hunt (Jr., Crookston, Minn./Crookston HS) (155) and Mike Lundberg (So., White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) (155) who finished one shot out of claiming all-conference honors. The top ten individuals are awarded All-MIAC certificates.

Hunt rebounded from a tough opening round of 82 to charge back into top ten contention with a 73 on the final day. Lundberg also improved on his first round score. After firing a 79 in his opening round he finished the meet by shooting a 76.

Mark Thompson (Bena, Minn./Cass Lake-Bena, HS) was the next closest Concordia golfer. He shot a 167 (82-85) and finished the two-day event in a tie for 38th place. Steve Rubis (Sr., Worthington, Minn./Worthington HS) followed Thompson with a score of 169 (80-89). Matt Johnson (Sr., Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) finished off the top five of Concordia by shooting a 170 (87-83). 

10/3 Cobbers in Fifth After Day One of MIAC Championships.

9/29 Cobbers Finish in 21st Place at Twin Cities Classic.

9/22 Cobbers Finish 11th at UND Invite; Hunt is Individual Runner-Up.

9/21 Matt Johnson Hits Hole-in-One on Day One of UND Invitational.

Cobber Senior Matt Johnson (Moorhead, Minn.) hit a hole-in-one on the eighth hole of the King's Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks on Day One of the UND Invitational. The hole played at 186 yards and Johnson holed it using an 8 Iron. Johnson finished the day with a 76, tied for 30th place in the tournament. Teammate Carl Hunt fired a first-round 70 to earn a share of second place. As a team, the Cobbers' gold team finished with a respectable 307, but it was only good enough for 12th place, 18 shots behind leader MSU-Mankato.
