Interclass competition seemed to be at an all-time high right after the war as evidenced by an article in the Crescent.

The inter-class games begin December 1, 1919 when the seniors and juniors clash; class spirit has been aroused to a high tension and the competitions will be keen as never before. All classes seem to possess an equal number of evenly matched players and they are getting into trim. Several hairbreadth decisions of games, watched by fans in breathless suspense, are in view.

Three cups will be fought for; one for the school championship, the other two for the winners among the college and academy teams. Nine teams will compete for the honors. The managers are: Seniors, John Nystul; Juniors, Olaf Scheie; Sophomores, Julius Rafshol; Freshmen, Agnar Tanner, Fourth year, Joseph Rundsvold; Third year, Lenvik Ylvisaker, Second and First year, Trygve Lund; Commercials, Ehmil Gaare.(44)

Cold weather hampered the 1919 baseball team and only five games were played. They opened the season with the Twin Valley Independents and lost 5-1.

The next game was against Hawley which Concordia won 9-0. In this game the Scout reported that upon this occasion, the Concordia sodbusters lammed the ball with such passionate devotion as to almost assume an aspect of irreverence.

Concordia beat Wahpeton Science 5-2 and 5-1. In a final game, Concordia lost to NDAC 6-4. The NDAC game was halted in the seventh inning due to rain. But the Ump growled his consent to having the two teams slide around in the mud for the last two frames. Upon the opening of that mud fest the farmers lobbed up 5 runs.

Members of the 1919 baseball team were Isaac Tanner, E. O. Hagen, Jake Jenner, Walt Reitan, Karl Lawrence, Ed Quam, J. Rafshol, Otto Berg, Victor Ramstad, Walt Estby and Ernest Ingebretson.

World War I was putting a definite crimp in the athletic program. Football had to be temporarily put aside but as soon as the war was over, it was resumed again.
