Greetings Concordia Football Alumni, Parents and Friends:
Another great Cobber tradition is thriving!  The annual Concordia Football Alumni, Parents and Friends Golf Tournament is entering its third term and we anticipate another tremendous response.  Entries in the tournament have nearly doubled since the initial 2003 kickoff.  This comes as no surprise. When occasion offers the chance to meet with old friends, share wonderful memories and reconnect with our Cobber ties—a great following is expected. We invite you to join us on Friday, August 5, at the beautiful Moorhead Country Club as we take in a wonderful day of golf and celebrate the rich athletic tradition embraced at Concordia College.

The 2004 season was a true thrill ride for the Concordia football team, staff, fans and supporters.  Obvious highlights include defeating our cross-town rival MSU–Moorhead, the exhilarating win over MIAC rival St. John’s University, an eleven game winning streak (tying a school record), undefeated MIAC Conference Champions, participating in the NCAA Division III National Playoffs, and the general feeling of a job well done by all “Cobbers”!

Last year’s tournament dollars were instrumental in securing the Fargodome for the Nov. 12 contest against Menlo College. We enjoyed the opportunity to even the score with the “Oaks” as we defeated them 30-0.  A new challenger appears on our 2005 schedule, the University of Minnesota Morris “Cougars” will make the trip and take on the Cobbers in a November 10 contest. Tournament dollars will again secure the Fargodome site and allow us to keep a competitive schedule for our program.  Dollars also assist with items that our budget falls short of sustaining. Your support of Concordia football remains vital to the strength of our honored tradition.

The patrons of the Hole Sponsorship Program make the tournament possible.  Our generous sponsors continue to support the efforts of Concordia leadership and staff as we remain focused on the student-athlete experience at Concordia College. We are grateful for their continued support and we always welcome new supporters. If you are interested in becoming a hole sponsor for this year’s tournament, please contact me at (218)299-3499 or horant@cord.edu before July 25.

The aim of this tournament is to gather the good friends and supporters of Concordia College for a great day of golf and fellowship; we hope for a tremendous response. Please review the enclosed registration and reply early. We look forward to seeing you August 5 and on many Saturdays throughout the football season! Thank you in advance for your encouragement of Concordia College and our football program.

In the Cobber Tradition,

Terry Horan
Head Football Coach
