Cobbers Complete St. Paul Sweep, Take 2 from Hamline.
Travis Anderson (Sr., Fargo, N.Dak.) pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout in the second game of Concordia's sweep over Hamline.

Series Recap -
(ST. PAUL)-- Concordia erased a 10-3 deficit in the sixth inning in the first game against Hamline, and then received a gritty pitching performance by Travis Anderson (Sr., Fargo, N.Dak./Fargo South HS) in the nightcap to sweep the Pipers 11-10 and 6-0. The Cobbers have now won seven straight games and 11 of the last 12. They are currently 9-1 in the MIAC and tied for first place with St. Thomas, who swept Macalester to keep pace with the Cobbers.

The defining moment of the series came in the top of the sixth inning in the first game with the Cobbers trailing 10-3. Concordia (9-1-0 MIAC, 18-9-1) scored eight runs in the frame to take a 11-10 lead and then shut down Hamline's (5-4-0 MIAC, 14-12-0) offense in the final two innings.

Bryan Romsa (So., Great Falls, Mont./Great Falls HS) helped the Cobbers on the mound and at the plate. Romsa pitched a scoreless sixth inning to help the staff get to closer Derek Dormanen (Sr., Menahga, Minn./Menahga HS). He also went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs. Newly positioned leadoff hitter Jack Dwyer (Jr., Bismarck, N.Dak./Shiloh Christian HS) also collected multiple RBI's in the game. Dwyer went 2-for-5 and had three RBI's. He has been a catalyst for the Concordia offense since being put in the leadoff spot against Macalester.

Ryan Hebrink (Jr., Sacred Heart, Minn./Renville County West HS) had the only extra-base hit for Concordia in the opener. Hebrink hit his fifth double on the year and was 1-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Dormanen pitched the seventh inning to pick up his fifth save of the year. He struck out two of the three batters he faced.

The second game of the twinbill belonged to Travis Anderson. Anderson pitched a four-hit, complete-game shutout to pick up his second consecutive win. Anderson, who had struggled earlier in the year, returned to last year's form by facing only 26 batters - five over the minimum. He struck out nine and only walked two. The senior was the team's leader in wins and complete games last season, and will be counted on to help the Cobbers in their drive for their fourth MIAC title.

Offensively, Concordia received the only output they would need in the game in the first inning. The Cobbers scored twice in the first to open up the game with a 2-0 lead, and carry the momentum over from the first game into the second. They added four more in the fifth inning and let Anderson baffle the Piper hitters for the rest of the game. Dwyer was 2-for-3 in the second game and has now hit safely in seven straight games - the longest streak of the year for any Cobber player. Hebrink was the only other Cobber with more than one hit in the game. He went 2-for-2, scored a run and collected his second double of the doubleheader.

Concordia will host Augsburg on Tuesday, April 22 at 4:00pm. They will then hit the road to play their final two league road doubleheaders. On Friday, April 25 they will play at Bethel at 2:30pm and then on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00pm they will square off with Gustavus in St. Peter, Minn.
