Kathy Braun (Jr., Willmar, MN) tracks down a fly ball, as shortstop Stephanie Gemer (Fr., Felton, MN) looks on, in the Cobbers 2-1 victory over Hamline.

4/9 Concordia Stays Hot, Sweeps Hamline 8-1, 2-1.
Concordia stretched their unbeaten streak to four, and remained unbeaten in the MIAC, sweeping Hamline 8-1 and 4-1. The Cobbers (7-1, 4-0) used a potent offense in the first game and a stingy defense in the second to sweep the Pipers (0-2, 4-9) for the third straight year.

In the opening game Concordia scored four runs in the fifth inning to break the game wide open. Becky Bouwman (So., Glenwood, MN) singled home two runs in the inning as the Cobbers sent eight batters to the plate. Heather Stohs (Sr., Perham, MN) led off the sixth inning with a home run, the first for Concordia on the year. Venda Porter (Jr., Townsend, WA) accounted for the lone run for Hamline as she punched out a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning. Erin Gunderson gave up one run on five hits to pick up her second straight victory since returning to the lineup.

In the second game senior pitcher Christine Moen (Glenwood, MN) scattered five hits and held the Pipers scoreless until the seventh inning. Concordia was able to scratch out a single run in the third and sixth innings to produce all the offense they would need to come away with the sweep. Kathy Braun (Jr., Willmar, MN) scored the first run after leading off the third inning with a double. After Jill Pontius (Jr., Eagle Valley, MN) singled Braun to third, Amanda Schindeldecker (Jr., Menahga, MN) hit a deep fly to center field that enabled her to tag from third and score the opening run of the game.

Hamline would threaten in the final inning after scoring their first run of the game. Emily Deuth (So., Northfield, MN) was left stranded at second base after she doubled home the only run of the game for the Pipers.

Concordia travels to St. Peter tomorrow to take on Gustavus. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 4:00.
