Women's Basketball

- Concordia senior post player Melanie Hageman (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) moved into fifth place on the school’s all-time scoring list this past week. Hageman, who now has 1,376 career points moved past current St. Mary’s head coach Mandy Pearson. Pearson, an All-American at Concordia from 2001-05 scored 1,346 points in her storied career.


Men's Basketball (5-7/4-3 MIAC - beat Gustavus 69-57/lost to Bethel 73-56)
- Concordia has made at least one 3-point field goal in their last 213 games. The last time the Cobbers were held without a 3-point basket was against Macalester on Feb. 2, 2000 (0-for-7).

- Concordia saw their four-game conference winning streak come to an end on Saturday. The four-game MIAC win streak was the longest for the Cobbers since the start of the 2003-04 season. CC is 5-7 on the year now which is one more win than they had in all of last year.

- Cobber senior Luke Linz (Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley Watkins HS) scored 24 points against Bethel on Saturday marking the fifth times this season he has scored at least 20 points in a game. Linz now has 1,113 points in his career. He is fourth on the school's all-time scoring chart. Against Bethel he passed Jim Bjorklund who scored 1,098 points from 1971-74 and Dave Reiten who had 1,101 points from 1970-73.


Women's Basketball (7-4/6-2 MIAC - beat Gustavus 64-60/beat Bethel 92-72)

- The Cobbers had five 3-point field goals against Bethel on Saturday. Concordia has made at least one 3-point field goal in their last 203 games. The last time CC was held without a 3-point basket was against St. Ben's on Jan. 29, 2000 (0-for-8).

- The Cobbers currently lead the MIAC in points scored in conference games. CC is averaging 76.8 points per game in their eight league games. They have scored at least 70 points in seven of their eight league games this year. They are coming off a season-high 92 points against Bethel on Saturday.


Men's Hockey  - (1-12-0/0-4-0 MIAC - lost to #6 UW-River Falls 9-0/lost to #8 UW-Stout 4-0)

- Concordia dropped a pair of games to nationally-ranked NCHA opponents this past weekend. The Cobbers lost 9-0 at No.6-ranked UW-River Falls on Friday and then fell 4-0 at home to No.8-ranked UW-Stout on Sunday. CC has now gone 139 minutes without scoring a goal.

- In the loss to Stout on Sunday, Cobber goalie Josh Hand (Sr., Temple, Pa.) made 24 saves in the game and lowered his goals against average to 4.80.

- Concordia leads the MIAC in penalty minutes this season. The Cobbers have been whistled for an average of 23.2 penalty minutes per game in their 13 overall games this season. That mark is also ranked eighth in the nation.


Women's Hockey (4-6-1/4-1-1 MIAC - did not play)
- Concordia returns to conference play this weekend after over a month off for Christmas holiday. The Cobbers are currently 4-1-1 in conference play. They are ranked third in the conference in goals against average (1.50) and are tied for fourth in goals scored per game (2.67).

- Concordia is led in scoring by junior Bre Bian (Cedarburg, Wis.). Bian has four goals and five assists for a total of nine points.


Swimming and Diving (4-2 - lost to St. Ben's 181-60)

- Concordia lost their second consecutive dual meet on Friday against St. Ben’s. The Cobbers fell 181-60 to the Blazers and are now 4-2 in dual meets this season.

- In the loss to St. Ben’s, Concordia had a pair of individual event wins. Lauren Trudeau (So., Stillwater, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) won the 1-meter diving event. She finished with a score of 205 and won by a full three points. Katie Coleman (Fr., Marshall, Minn.) won the 100-yard backstroke by swimming a career-best 1:06.85.

- Against the Blazers, Concordia had 11 career best times and had 11 other season best marks.


Wrestling (1-3 - lost to #3 UW-La Crosse 31-7/beat #15 Cornell 25-20/lost to

#5 Luther 39-7)

- Concordia went 1-2 at the prestigious National Duals Tournament held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday. The Cobbers lost to No.3-ranked UW-La Crosse and No.5-ranked Luther and beat No.15-ranked Cornell (Iowa). CC is now 1-3 in dual meets this year.

- The Cobbers had a pair of wrestlers that posted 2-1 records at the National Duals meet. Lane Lunde (So., West Fargo, N.D.) and Tony Neumann (Jr., Willmar, Minn.) were the lone Concordia wrestlers that came away with winning records. Lunde had wins over opponents from No.5-ranked Luther and Cornell and Neumann had victories over foes from No.3-ranked UW-La Crosse and Cornell. Lunde is now 17-10 on the season, while Neumann sports a 16-9 overall mark.

- The two biggest wins of the day for CC came from Neumann and Jason Brill (Fr., Little Falls, Minn.). The two were the only Concordia athletes to score points against tournament runner-up La Crosse. Neumann scored a decisive 14-1 victory over Zach Strickland, while Brill recorded a 7-6 win over Brandon Music from No.3-ranked UW-La Crosse. La Crosse went on to finish second in the entire tournament and Music posted wins over wrestlers from No.6-ranked Heidelberg (Ohio) and No.2-ranked Augsburg.


Men's Indoor Track and Field

- Concordia will open the 2008 indoor track and field season by hosting the annual Cobber Alumni Meet on Saturday, Jan. 19 at noon. The event is a track and field festival that has events for the Concordia athletes, alumni and kids.

- Concordia’s first competition against other colleges will come on Saturday, Jan. 26 when they host the Cobber Duals meet at noon.
