Picture of the Week: Concordia senior Grant Weller was selected to participate in the annual Aztec Bowl. The Aztec Bowl is a Division III all-star game pitting the top players in NCAA DIII against an all-star from Mexico. Weller is the eighth player in school history to earn the right to play in the prestigious game.

Football
- Concordia senior offensive tackle Grant Weller (Sr., Sauk Centre, Minn.) has been selected to play for the American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) Division III all-star team that will represent the United States against the Mexican National Team in the 2007 Aztec Bowl on December 8 at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario on the campus of the University of Chihuahua in Chihuahua, Mexico. Weller is the eighth player, and fourth straight, in school history to play in the Aztec Bowl. Concordia is tied for fourth in the nation in the total number of players who have played in the prestigious game.

Weller recently received the Mike Stam award as the top lineman in the MIAC in 2007. He is a three-year starter and earned MIAC postseason honors in three consecutive seasons.


Football (7-3/5-3 MIAC - 4th Place - End of 2007 Season)

Men's Basketball (1-3/lost to Nebraska Wesleyan 52-71; beat Luther 67-51)
- Concordia won its first game of the season by beating Luther 67-51 on Saturday. In the game, the Cobbers used their overall team depth to beat the Norse. CC had nine players score at least four points in the game. It is the first time in more than two seasons that nine players have scored at least four points in a game.

- Cobber senior Luke Linz (Watkins, Minn./Eden Valley-Watkins HS) has scored in double figures in all four of the teams’ games this season. He has currently scored at least 10 points in 21 consecutive games. In the past three seasons, Linz has scored in double figures in 39 of the 43 games he has played.

- Linz has now scored 960 points in his career and needs only 40 more points to become the 11th player in program history to reach the 1,000 point mark.


Women's Basketball (0-2/0-0 MIAC; did not play)
- Concordia returns to action on Wednesday night when they play at St. Ben's to open up the 2007-08 MIAC season. The game will be broadcast live on the internet and will also feature live video.

- The Cobbers are picked to finish fourth in the MIAC preseason coaches' poll. CC did receive two first-place votes in the poll. St. Ben's was picked to finish first after receiving seven first-place votes.


Men's Hockey  - (1-4-0/0-0-0; lost to UM-Crookston 6-1)

- Concordia fell 6-1 to UM-Crookston on Tuesday. The game followed a 17-day layoff for the Cobbers.

- Kirby Markowsky (Sr., Wakaw, Sask.) scored the lone goal for the Cobbers in their loss at UM-Crookston. Markowsky leads the team in goals this season. He has scored three goals this year after not scoring a single goal in all of last season.


Women's Hockey (2-5-0/2-0-0 MIAC; did not play)
- Concordia returns to action after the Thanksgiving holiday by hosting Hamline in a two-game series on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. The game on Friday will be played in the main rink at the Moorhead Sports Center. The game on Saturday will be played in the north rink.


Swimming and Diving (did not compete last week)

- The Cobbers return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday by competing in the annual Cobber/Dragon Open held at MSU Moorhead on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1.


Wrestling (did not compete last week)

- Concordia did not compete last week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The Cobbers will compete at the Dragon Open on Saturday, Dec. 1 beginning at 9 a.m.
