Gameday Game Recap:

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (10/14/08)-- In the middle of September the goal appeared to be the size of a dime head to Concordia senior forward Justin Foss. Less than one month later that same goal looks as tall as the Concordia Bell Banner and as wide as the new student center. That's because Foss has rattled off a streak of seven games where he has scored at least on goal in six of those contests. Foss' latest conquest came on Tuesday where he scored one of the two Cobber goals and helped CC post a 2-0 win at Jamestown College.

The win is the second straight for Concordia. CC is now 6-8-0 on the year which is the most wins in a single season since the 2001 campaign. The Cobbers also beat Jamestown for the second time in 2008. Earlier in the year, they downed the Jimmies 2-1 at home. With the loss on Tuesday Jamestown falls to 2-12-1.

The two teams played a scoreless first half with neither team having any clear quality chances. The Cobbers finally got on the board in the 73rd minute when Marco Riboli deftly settled a ball that was sent over the top of the Jimmie defense from defender Drew Glogoza and knocked home his third goal of the year. The eventual game-winning goal at 72:35 enabled CC to relax and take control of the offensive end of the field.

The second Concordia goal came less than seven minutes later when Foss finished off a passing sequence from Riboli and sophomore Kyle Kazemi. Kazemi and Riboli connected in the middle of the field and then Riboli sent the ball over the top of the Jamestown defensive back line and Foss was able to run onto the through ball and poke home the second score of the half. For Foss it was his team-leading ninth goal of the season. The nine goals on the year is more than any player since 2001 when Dustin Allard recorded 11 goals. Foss also has 20 points on the year to become the first 20-point scorer for the Cobber men's team since Brandon Root posted a 20-point campaign back in 2004. Riboli's assist is his 11th of the season - a total that leads the MIAC. The 11 assists on the season is also the third highest in program history and six shy of tying the school record of 17 set by Todd Hashbarger in 1997.

Concordia ended up outshooting Jamestown 20-8 for the game, including 11-4 in the second half. The Cobbers also held a 8-6 edge in shots on goal. CC goalie Mads Schmidt made six saves to earn his fourth shutout of the season. Jimmie goalie Jordan Gengler stopped six shots in the losing effort.

The Cobbers will now take advantage of the mid-semester break when they travel to Illinois to take on Bendectine College on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
